Sunniva fights Italy on Saturday!
During Wednesday’s draw, it became clear that Sunniva was ranked second in the tournament and thus she stood over the preliminary rounds that started today. After the draw, it became clear that she would face the winner of Mexico and our old friend Italy. Sunniva has faced Italy four times in 24/25 and Sunniva has won three of the matches. In May, Sofia Stigen Sørensen faced Mexico, so both boxers were well known beforehand.
Italy and Mexico met today and after Mexico took the initiative in the fight and won the first round 3-2, Italy took more and more over the fight and landed a narrow but decent victory. Thus, we will once again meet Italy this coming Saturday at the evening event. So there is 16 boxers left in Sunniva's weight class as Sunniva enters the tournament, in the round of 16.
The session starts at 18:00 UK time and as Sunniva has match 8, her bout will start around 20:00 UK time, 21:00 Norwegian time 🤗 But as always; tune in early!
Friday, Sunniva's teammates Madeleine Angelsen and Omar Shiha enter the ring for their first matches. Madeleine will fight in the morning session starting at 12.00 Norwegian time and Omar will fight in the evening session starting at 19.00 Norwegian time.
